Hi Best Friend!", so, naturally, I peeped under the table and saw Riley petting Peyton. Um, how come Peyton gets to be her best friend??

So David and I decided to have a talk with her. We asked her "Riley, who's your best friend", immediately she responded "Peyton!"; so we asked "Can Bosco be your best friend?" and her response was "YEP!". So we asked "Can Daddy be your best friend?" and with the sweetest little grin replied "nope", and when asked "Can Mommy be your best friend?" we again got a "nope".

So... I have no idea where she learned about best friends, but, dog really is man's best friend. Er, Riley's best friend :)
Lucky Dogs!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-15874958486526854082010-05-10T08:11:00.000-07:002010-05-10T11:50:33.190-07:00Happy Birthday Riley Anne!Today Riley turns two. My little girl is growing up!

Planning a party for a two year old was rather interesting, when we asked Riley what type of party she wanted to have she just said "KIDS!", and if you asked what she wanted for her birthday her first response was, again, "KIDS!" followed by "Balloons!". So a party with kids and balloons is exactly what she got! Elephant themed, of course...

So Riley had her birthday party on Saturday over at Smoochie's house- we had just over 30 people and the weather actually cooperated, at least for the most part. There were 8 kids and they all had a blast playing outside on the swing set, with the yard toys and even this silly bean bag toss game with an elephant on it! Chuck did an AWESOME job with lunch, we had brats, hotdogs, coleslaw and David's mom Hanne made fruit salad and her potato salad - YUM!

As usual Ry made out like a bandit, anything that kid could have wanted she got. We now have Zhu Zhu's, crayons, coloring books, clothes, elephant books, puzzles, Little People sets, Mr Potato Head, stuffed animal elephants, a sand box with toys and a power Quad (that Riley loves and got the hang of rather quickly) - just to name a few.

After presents we cut into Riley's birthday cake - ever made an elephant birthday cake before? I can't tell you how many times I heard the line from Steel Magnolias "How do you make GRAY icing?!" haha! The Elephant was confetti cake and the base was cherry chip, if everyone told the truth it all turned out okay :)

After cake each kid got some really cool favor boxes full of stuff, elephant shaped crayons, candy, windmills, bubble sticks, sidewalk chalk, balls, elephant finger puppets, a foam letter with their initial.... We made sure that each kid got to go home with some really awesome items and "share" Riley's party with her - they loved it!

More photos to come!!!!

Happy Birthday Riley - The coolest little girl I know! :)David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-35764595635276969902010-05-06T12:23:00.000-07:002010-05-06T12:24:39.602-07:00Almost two!!Riley turns two on Monday! Can you believe it??

We're having her party this upcoming Saturday, May 8th at Smoochie's house - photos and comments to come! I PROMISE! :)David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-66592317125204685952010-01-27T09:43:00.000-08:002010-01-27T09:57:55.639-08:00About time for another update I'd say!Well one thing is for sure, Riley keeps us busy! As if you couldn't tell from the decades appearing between posts!

She's 20 months old now, going on 4 years... She REALLY keeps us on our toes. Right now her vocabulary changes daily, she's learning new words and meanings constantly and won't hesitate to tell you that her favorite animal is an elephant (her favorite color is "elephant" too), or that EVERYTHING is either red or pink.

She is still one for adventure and we can't keep her from climbing anything, she has the will and has already found a way - it's just the waiting game to see when someone isn't watching :)

This last weekend David and I took Riley and I to the Stock Show so she could see real live farm animals - rather than just seeing them in books. She absolutely adored the petting zoo, she pet every animal (as well as another kid or two!), hugged the baby goats and sheep and thought the duck playing in the water was hilarious. She got to see lots of big cows, big and small horses, bunnies, alpaca's, guinea pigs, baby lambs... and even ponies. Riley got to go on her first pony ride and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. When the ride was over she was so upset and didn't want to leave the ring. With the promise of seeing more animals she bucked up and went on her merry little way - leaving us with great photos to share with you all!

Hope you're all well and I'll work on posting more often!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-52500059909370048852009-09-20T14:45:00.000-07:002009-11-17T10:01:08.561-08:00Fourth of July
Here are some photos from our 4th of July celebrations! First Riley, her cousin Gabi and friend Bostyn all rode together in our wagon for out neighborhoods parade, they were in their leotards dressed as the US Womens Gymnastics Team :)

The girls were so cute, they waved to all the neighbors and waved their flags in the air, and they beahved so well for the entire thing. The parade ended at a neighborhood park so all the girls got to play on the playground, eat ice cream and even check out the cop car that joined us in the parade.

David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-36631018535115863222009-09-20T14:27:00.000-07:002009-09-20T14:39:05.167-07:00A little catching up...Yikes! Sorry I did it again! It's amazing how fast time flies!! I'll do my best over the next week to get ya'll caught up, it looks like I skipped the entire summer!

This summer has been a blast! Riley has gotten to do quite a few neat things and has grown SO much! She's definitely a monkey! Her favorite thing to do is climb, and of course explore EVERYTHING. A few weeks ago I put her to bed in her crib with a bottle and a binky then headed out to the living room where David was playing Wii, finally is quiet and calm. Three minutes later out walks miss Riley with her binky and bottle in hand. She must have actually planned this escape and thrown both her binky and her bottle out of the crib, then herself, picked up her items and headed out to Mommy and Daddy. I have to admit I was pretty proud :)

Riley has been in a baby gymnastics class this summer (parent & tot class), it has helped her motor skills extremely (which may be the cause for the crib escape....). Her instructor Mrs. Pam is awesome and Riley adores her, her favorite thing is the balance beam and has recently started to like the bars. She's actually strong enough to hold onto the bar and bring her feet up to touch it all on her own. They taught us a new song, a coocoo clock song, which has become a major favorite of Riley's - she LOVES to be thrown in the air so she gets so excited when you mention the song to her.

Ry's vocabulary has expanded tremendously! I taught her to say her own name on a Saturday and by the next day she already knew to say it when someone asks "what is your name?". For some reason she won't respond to "what's your name", it has to be "what is", goofy kid. She'll attempt to say any word you ask her to now but on her own her favorite is to ask for 'more' which she'll say and sign at the same time, she'll also sign please when she wants something. Aside from just words and sounds I've also had fun teaching her a few other things, if you ask her what 'Daddy says' she'll shake her finger at you like she's saying 'no no no' and (my favorite) when you ask her what Oma says she'll say "Raarrr" and bring her hand down like a claw. I know I know, evil. But fun!! :)David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-23054487818476945282009-05-17T20:48:00.001-07:002009-06-12T14:45:38.307-07:00Riley helped daddy mow the lawn!Riley had a fun filled day outside today, she helped Daddy mow the lawn, played in the sprinklers and even played at the driving range while Mommy and Daddy attempted to hit some balls with Papa Reed.

Riley following Daddy with her mower:

Trying to catch up to Daddy, but his legs are longer!
Riley's first real experience with ants, she thought they wer SO cool! It absolutely amazes me how much she grew and how advanced she is... I'm sure most parents say that but walking at 10 months, running at 12 and just her general understanding of the world around her - she's much farther along than the other one years olds we see.

She's SOOOO extremely tall (she must get that from me), the average tallest height for a baby her age is 30.5 inches; Riley was 32" at her one year check up and at the 100th percentile for height, 76th for weight (only 18th compared to height, but that's considering most kids her height are older and weigh more).

We had her birthday party on Sunday the 10th, Mothers Day, and she had such a fun time (photos will be posted soon!). She really didn't realize it was about her until it came time to eat the cake and everyone was staring at her. Her favorite present so far is the little car, she sits in it every night and pushes the horn over and over again.

Riley will also be starting swim classes on Sunday's at the end of this month and "Gymtastics" gymnastics classes on Mondays next month. Riley already knows when I say 'hands down' to set them on the ground, then we say 'head down' and she sets that on the ground so that I'll grab her feet and make her do a summersault. I think she'll fully enjoy gymnastics classes and all the tumbling she'll get to do. The swim classes should be a hoot too, Riley LOVES her bathtime and I can only imagine what a big pool and other kids will do for her. She had a blast taking these today (timing between naps was perfect!!) and they turned out so adorable! I will post more after her birthday party next Sunday, that should be fun too!

Pointing to her piggies:Lookin' so pretty in her tutu

I love how she looks surprised, like we weren't really taking photos of her

Kabunk! I started this blog for you all to have easy access to my etsy.com site, a site for all things hand made :)

I've been selling a few items which has brought in some extra cash to do some really fun things with Riley (right now I'm working on getting her into Little Gym, it will make for some great photos for you all!). My blog has links to all the items on my etsy.com site, so if you see any hair bows or know anyone that would need some custom wall letters painted for a kids room or a baby on the way, please check out my site! The direct link to my etsy.com store is www.jarrettcreations.etsy.com

Thanks for allowing me to highjack Riley's page!
KimberlyDavid, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-24455008292698037862009-04-29T07:50:00.000-07:002009-04-29T07:56:05.978-07:00So I lied to you...I posted the other day about Riley's vocabulary but I apparently lied to you.

I think Riley has been holding out on us, since I posted last she has also said "Hi Bosco! Hi Peyton!", of course it didn't sound exactly as it should but it was close enough, and when I asked her where her ear was the other day she put her hand over it and said "it's right here!". When I asked her again she yelled at me "right here!" like I wasn't smart enough to know on my own! If she starts following her statements with "duh" I think I'm going to get my first gray hair!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-57792250081046082292009-04-26T19:25:00.000-07:002009-04-26T19:29:56.414-07:00Riley Swingin' Daddy and Riley after our April snow storm

Easter Sunday

Who ya' gonna call?

Anticipating the slide...

David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-45578250105039883272009-04-26T19:04:00.000-07:002009-04-26T19:24:20.117-07:00Riley Anne - 11 months and counting!

Again, sorry for taking so long to post! I think I need more reminders about this blog :)

As of today Riley will be a whopping ONE YEAR OLD in only TWO WEEKS! Can you believe how much time has flown? I have enjoyed every bit of this year with her, no matter how you feel she is sure to put a smile on your face! Right now her vocabulary consists of "MamaMama", "Dadeeee" "Do-eee" (Doggy, which if you ask her what they say she will say 'woof' and when you ask what they do she will pant for you), "Who's that?" "Whuz that?" and "Oh YEAH!". She's been walking for a couple months and pretty much given up on crawling too. Climbing over anything is so cool to her but her ultimate favorite right now is the swing set we got for her. She LOVES LOVES LOVES the swing! She even pumps her little legs to try and go higher, it's too cute! The swing set also has two slides, one of which is a little taller than the other, on the big slide today she sat at the top and leaned forward to make her way down all on her own (w/ me at the bottom to catch her of course!).

For her birthday I'm hoping to get her into a 'Little Gym' that does tumbling and games, I think she would love it (at least for the $ she better love it!). I'll be sure to post pictures if I'm able to get her in!

Anyway, here are some photos from Easter and on her swing set.
David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-87206919826844076422009-03-15T09:48:00.000-07:002009-03-15T10:09:02.173-07:00Riley - 10 monthsMommy & Me group at the zoo trip Riley & Cousin Gabi in the wagon, with Riley eating Gabi's leash thing

Morgan & Gabi and Riley & I

Riley chillin' in her wagon waiting for the rest of the group to show up

Cha cha baby!

So it's the middle of March and it looks like I've missed a month and a half of updates, sorry! I know some of you have been asking, so, here ya go!

Riley is 10 months now and has taken her first steps, she's actually up to 4.5 before she chickens out and returns to crawling. For as scary as walking is to her she sure is a dare devil everywhere else! She LOVES to ride in her wagon, stroller or a grocery cart and she'll climb over anything that will sit still long enough (usually it's one of our dogs, Bosco). Her new favorite game is pulling everything off a shelf in one of our desks, climbing up onto a box and then onto the shelf; she climbs out of it just as well and then does it about 5 more times before she gets bored.

She saw two big kids on bikes yesterday and screamed at me when she couldn't see them anymore (with David wrapped around her finger I'm surprised he didn't go buy her a bike! lol), I think once Riley is really mobile it's going to be hard to keep her still!

She's wearing size 12-18 month clothes even though she's not a chunky baby! She definitly got David's height.... I wish I could say it was mine! Her vocabulary now is "Momma", "Daddy", "HEY!". "yeah" and almost 'doggy'.

We took her to the zoo yesterday and she was more interested in her wagon than the animals.... exept the monkeys. She liked the noises monkeys made (or maybe the noise that mommy thought they made?). Speaking of monkeys, I've started planning her birthday party and just ordered some invitations with cute monkeys on them! I know it's early but I wanted to make sure the invitations got here on time :) I also found a really cute monkey cake pan that I'm going to make an attempt at for her birthday cake.... we'll see how that goes! Her birthday this year is on Mothers Day and we're having her party and a little BBQ that day, it should be fun! I can't believe my little stinker is going to be a year old in almost a month and a half!

David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-44639571004790408802009-01-27T10:08:00.000-08:002009-01-27T10:36:14.115-08:00The end of January already?!Riley in her Steelers clippies I made for Super Bowl Sunday!

Riley modeling the Cardinals clippies I made for her cousin Gabi

I don't know why it is I can never remember to update this site, I'm going to have to tie a knot around my finger as a reminder (but then I'll be spending all my time trying to remember what I needed to remember!!).

Can you believe Riley is already eight and a half months old? She is developing so much, it seems like each week she masters something new! Currently she crawls SUPER FAST! One moment she's there and the next you hear this excited giggle from 10 feet away when she realizes she's succeeded in making a break for it (I don't think she realizes yet that she gives herself away with that excited giggle!). Crusing the furniture is an absolute breeze for her too, she's starting to circle the living room. Her memory seems to be developing quite well, she knows where the dog food is in every house she goes to, she loves the water bulb in the plant at her Smoochie's house (by the way, Sharice had a CATscan done today and everything looks GREAT! Just 3 more days of chemo and she's done!), and for some reason the coin jar in our bedroom is absolutely fascinating to her.

She's standing up by herself now, once she gets to about 30 seconds she freaks herself out and sits down really fast. Oh! And she also loves somersaults! I hold her at her hips and say "hands down", both hands hit the floor and then I say "head down" and she gently lats her head on the floor just waiting for me to flip her feet over and have her land on her back. She really seems to be a dare devil, she loves riding in her wagon, being thrown in the air, crawling over our dog Bosco (not Peyton, JUST Bosco) and she's getting quite the hang of climbing.... The other night she got herself onto a box but couldn't quite figure out how to get off and she also got caught climbing her baby gate - her little fingers were in the holes as well as her toes, just stuck on the gate with nowhere to go! I love the personality she's developing, it's so much fun!

I always swore that if I had a girl she wouldn't be all 'girly' with dresses and bows, I think my 16 year old self would be highly dissapointed in me now. I have become ADDICTED to making hair bows for Riley, it's turning into my 'relaxation time'. In fact I've made so many (and starting to realize that my first bows looked AWEFUL!), and given away more than I think the receivers wanted, that I have started selling on my own website. It's on a community website called Etsy where folks sell all things handmade or vintage and my new sites address is www.jarrettcreations.etsy.com. I'll be working on getting better photos taken this week so it looks a bit sharper but I'm sooper excited and hope to be able to sell some of this stuff to pay for my new addiction :) On that note, be prepared to see more photos of Riley with my silly bows in the weeks to come!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-57717006445393699562008-12-30T15:49:00.000-08:002008-12-30T16:11:14.717-08:00Riley's 1st Christmas
Riley sittin on presents because we were running out of room!
Santa Baby!

What am I eating? It's hard to believe Riley is already nearly 8 months old! We celebrated her 1st Christmas in what was meant to be our 'traditional way' but ended up being quite non traditional in nearly all aspects!

Christmas Eve we headed over to Smoochies house for munchies and presents, Riley actually did quite well pulling on the wrapping paper and had fun with all her new toys (but mostly Smoochies old toys!). We spent our time with Smoochie, Grampa Chuck, Ryan & Mysty and then headed home for some much needed sleep... that we ended up not really getting. Riley ended up waking up several times throughout the early morning sick to her tummy, when things seemed to be getting worse and not better we packed ourselves into the car and headed to Childrens Hospital (quite non traditional, eh?). The nurses and Drs were really impressed with how calm Riley was and how she let them do whatever it was they wanted to, she was such a big girl! Someone had donated some 'pillow pals' to the hospital so they gave Riles this huge pillow duck, she loved it! That was her first Christmas present of the day since she was too sick to even want to look at hers at home.

We didn't stay at the hospital long, they gave her some anti nausea medicine and pedialite and then sent us on our way. Since we had missed our traditional family breakfast with Dave's family we still swung by Aunti Di's (Riley's babysitter and Dave's sister) where she got to cuddle with her Auntie and open a few presents there. We had a good couple hours at home and then went to David's moms for Christmas dinner. Riley was in pretty good spirits and had fun opening a few presents, then she got tired so I ended up behind a WALL of presents for her that I got to open and play with :) Riley is much better now, and was even nice enough to give me that tummy bug of hers - it sure packs a punch (that's why we're a few days late with this blog!). Anyway, I hope you enjoy the couple pictures and had a very Merry Christmas & have a great New Year!

David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-77044523914626970102008-12-17T11:33:00.000-08:002008-12-17T11:39:26.393-08:00Hopefully the last hospital update on my mom!Hopefully today or tomorrow my mom will be released from the hospital! Whoohoo! I know she's going stir crazy in there!

Her chest tube should be removed today and if all goes well she could go home this afternoon. I stopped by and spent some time with her last night and I think she's actually doing pretty well. We went for a walk trying to see Christmas lights out of the window (which was a bummer we couldn't see any) and just had a good time talking between the two of us. I called her on my way home from work and I could tell she sounded bummed so I took a detour and headed back towards the hospital; after I left the nurse that came in to take her vitals said that she could tell my mom just lit up when I got there. I'm so glad I was able to help put a smile on her face and ease the annoyance of being stuck in the hospital for days on end!

I'm so excited for her to be getting out!!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-70437129527696314052008-12-14T12:30:00.000-08:002008-12-14T12:35:03.023-08:00Sunday updateHi All!

So the good news it my mom is doing good. They removed the probes that were her constant supply of medication which seemed to cause some pain, but, after they found a happy medium she seems to be doing okay again. She is still having some leakage from her lymph system ( I think that's what it is anyway!) but they think it's getting better. They're letting her have liquids today and possibly food tomorrow, so it looks like the soonest she'll be released is Tuesday.

David, Riley and I went for a visit yesterday - mom says that Riley is the best medicine & she certainly proved to be when she couldn't stop giving her Smoochie kisses!

Hope all is well with everyone, time to go finish the Christmas decorations!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-11366199126283308642008-12-12T09:44:00.000-08:002008-12-12T09:48:27.979-08:00WooHooo!My mom called me again this morning sounding FANTASTIC! She's feeling good, sounds good and the best news..... The tests came back and she is CANCER FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like they'll still do some chemo in about a month after she has healed just incase there are some microscopic pieces in there; I'm so glad they're doing everything they can to get rid of every last bit! Chuck told me that her eye looks great (woohoo again!) and the Drs are really impressed with how she's recovering.... She was so sleepy after her surgery last week but now she's more alert and feeling so much better.

I think Riley is sooper excited that her Smoochie is going to be around much longer :)David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-32037436876985425282008-12-11T07:20:00.000-08:002008-12-11T08:12:21.850-08:00Day after surgery update....Hi All!

So this morning on my way to work I got a, quite surprisingly, cheery phone call from my mom. She sounded great, still a little tired, but she just sounded really good. Her calling me was deffinitely a plus! She's been so drugged up the last week which has been pretty tough on her memory and ability to stay awake, I think she's really looking forward to conciousness!

Her hospital room is full of flowers and stuffed animals - I know that they have given her plenty of smiles so thanks to all of you who have sent messages, made phone calls and kept her in your prayers!

As always, feel free to call or text my cell for any information! 303-981-7004

Ooh, I almost forgot! I've had several requests for St. Josephs information so here you go, but please be considerate if you call to keep your conversations short so she can get the rest she needs and head home as soon as possible (still looking like Sunday/Monday depending on pain).
1835 Franklin Street - Denver, CO 80218 - 303.837.7111. If you need specific information like how to spell her last name or her room number I can give that to you in a seperate e-mail (for privacy reasons!).David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-12645389402615843972008-12-10T14:31:00.000-08:002008-12-10T14:39:23.355-08:00Smoochie UpdateToday my mom had her 2nd surgery to remove the rest of the tumor that was unable to be removed last week. Her surgery started at 8:30 and ended about 5 hours later. Her surgeon removed a part of her first rib, was able to navigate around the nerves and is confident that they were able to remove all the cancer. They needed to separate a nerve in order to get to the rest of the tumor that he thinks may result in Horner Syndrome, a slight droop of her left eye lid. His theory is giving her life by removing the tumor is much better than stopping at the nerve to stop a little droop.... I have to say I agree with him!

Her epidural was removed since it wouldn't affect the new area that this surgery was performed in, but they did insert some probes that will deliver anesthetic automatically for the next 72 hours. The hospital will release her probably over the weekend or next Monday, depending on her pain.

She seemed in good spirits this morning before the surgery, I'm sure she's ready to have all this done and over with! Thank you to all who kept her in your prayers, I'll keep posting as I have updates!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-21747016593382904962008-12-09T10:23:00.000-08:002008-12-09T10:49:19.073-08:00Riley's Smoochie....Most of you all know that my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer about two months ago. After several months of shoulder and arm pain the Dr's found a Pancoast tumor on her right lung that had been pressing against her nerves causing all the pain. First of all, it's a good thing that it was pressing against the nerve because this type of tumor usually goes unnoticed until it's too late to treat.

My mom went through 5 weeks of radiation Monday-Friday and two stints of chemo the first Monday-Monday and the last Monday-Monday of the radiation treatment. The tumor shrunk from 4.5cm to 2.5cm! That result is more than what the Dr's were looking for! The location of the tumor is in the back, high on her right lung (basically inside and outside the lung behind a mass of nerves, veins and arteries making what they call a 'birds nest'). On Wednesday, December 3rd, her surgeon went through her right side and removed the tumor. Unfortunately the tumor had lodged itself up against the chest cavity and the surgeon was not able to remove all of the cancer without damaging the nerves to her arm. However, there was a neurosurgeon that feels they can go through another path and he can help navigate through the nerves and remove the rest of the cancer in her chest cavity. He will be joining my moms surgical staff tomorrow for her 2nd surgery to remove the rest of the cancer, HOPEFULLY.

The hospital seems to be doing well at managing her pain and she seems to be in good spirits, just quite tired! Like mother like daughter, yesterday my mom spent her 2nd wedding anniversary in the hospital (I was @ the same hospital for pancreatitis on my 2nd anniversary!). Chuck seems to be handling everything really well and is taking great care of my mom.

I will be taking tomorrow off work and will be able to provide updates for anyone wishing to have one. Feel free to call my cell or send a text message - 303-981-7004.

Hope all is well with you all, please wish best wishes for my mom!David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-6364249378941538692008-12-09T10:04:00.000-08:002008-12-09T10:23:36.316-08:00Long overdue update!

Whew! Well this is long overdue! The last month and a half has been full of chaos and surprises, so let's see if we can't catch up, shall we?

First things first, Riley is doing awesome! She crawls, rolls, maneuvers... somehow gets to the other end of a room quite quickly! She doesn't fully crawl on hands and knees, it's more of a crawl & sit, crawl & sit, crawl & climb up on something. The girl LOVES to stand!! She turns 7 months tomorrow and stands quite well, even takes steps when she's holding onto your hands. We had to move her crib mattress down once I walked into her room and saw her nearly bending over the top of her crib! She's wearing 9 and 12 month pants and overalls already, her long little legs make the 6-9 month size she's supposed to be in look like Capri's (she definitely got the height gene from David!).

She started eating solid foods just before 6 months old and she barely ate it, we started her on step two foods (with little chunks & new flavors) this week and she chows down! She loves to taste new things and stares you down when you're eating until you give her a taste (she loves BBQ sauce!). When we set her on the floor after about a minute she entertains herself with 'ba ba ba bababa ba ba ba bababa', lately she's been throwing in a random 'ma' and 'ga' along with her rambles.

About a week ago she learned how to give kisses, now if you ask for one she looks at you like it's so much work and then kisses you with her mouth open. It's adorable. She's also learning how to clap with her hands open instead of her fists together and to stick out her tongue.. Haha, I tried showing her how to stick it out and she did it once, then when Peyton (one of our dogs) walked up Riles licked her! I think the tongue thing is going to take a little more work :)

That's about all the Riles updates for now, I'll do my best to keep you all updated a little better!

David, Kimberly & Riley Anne Jarretthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06549243685512087647noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-129845916040958266.post-6716106726414054492008-11-03T15:02:00.000-08:002008-11-03T15:14:15.273-08:00Riley's 1st Halloween!!Riles and Momma:

Riley's bag from Boo @ the Zoo

Riley with her 'fav' cousin Melodeigh (they all say they're her favorite!):

Momma's little lamb:

Riley with Cousin Gabi...
